Ruth T. Simmers, 85, of New Holland, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Ephrata Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Raymond F. Simmers, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.

Born in Gap, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Susan Myers Trego. An area resident her entire life, she was 1941 graduate of the Coatesville High School. She was employed at PECO Energy in Thorndale, retiring in 1986. Ruth was a member of the Parkesburg Baptist Church.

Robert L. Myers, 91, of Cochranville, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Harrison House Senior Living Center in Christiana. He was the loving husband of Helen B. Myers, who passed away this past November after they had shared 71 years of marriage together.

Barbara J. Murray, 74, of Atglen, passed away on February 19, 2009 at the Pembrooke Nursing Home. There are currently no services scheduled for Barbara.

Helen M. Pirches, 73, life long resident of Parkesburg, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday February 18, 2009 at the Lancaster General Hospital. She was the wife of Donald I. "Tex" Pirches with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville on March 28, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Harry "Bo" and Beatrice Dunlap Hanna. She was a member of the Kings Way Independent Church in Sadsburyville.

Helen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed dogs, yard sales, cooking and shopping.

Dorothy M. Thompson, 93, formerly of Coatesville, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Tel-Hai Retirement Community.  She was the widow of the late Harold L. Thompson, who passed away in 1999. 

Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Violet Cunningham Irwin.  An area resident for most her life, she was a graduate of the former Parkesburg High School.  She was employed as a seamstress for the Parkesburg Dress Co. for 26 years, retiring in 1961.

Freda Mae Crothers, 76, of Christiana, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2009 while under the care of the Hospice of Lancaster County at the Essa Flory Hospice Center.  She was the widow of the late Charles A. Crothers, with whom she shared 27 years of marriage.

Born in Downingtown, Freda was the daughter of the late Harvey C. and Helen I. Kackel Yoder.  A resident of Christiana for the past 37 years, she had graduated from the Dowingtown High School in 1951 and was employed by Leamen Chemical of Dowingtown and later by the Best Western in Intercourse.

Gary L. Johnson, 73, of Modena, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Brandywine Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Ruth Mellinger Johnson, with whom he would have shared 25 years of marriage this July.

Anne L. Pavelik, 68, of W. Caln Township, Coatesville, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Neighborhood Hospice Center of West Chester.  She was the beloved wife of Eugene Pavelik, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.

Gerald P. McMenamin, 49, of Parkesburg, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2009 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Margaret Bebco McMenamin of Coatesville and the late William J. McMenamin.

A resident of Philadelphia for most of his life, he was employed by the Cary Insurance Company.

Catherine F. Reali, 84, of East Fallowfield, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Brandywine Hospital. She was the widow of her husband of 60 years, Enio Reali.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Carmella Cheoco Rauso. An area resident since 1986, she was a member of the Our Lady of the Rosary in Coatesville.
