Obituaries

James J. Halter, 90, of Parkesburg, passed away on Friday March 15, 2024 at the Tel-Hai Nursing Home, Honey Brook, PA. 

Jim was a Parkesburg resident all his life and a 1952 graduate of the former Parkesburg High School. He enlisted in the US Navy and served on the heavy cruiser USS Toledo in the Pacific during the Korean Conflict and later he served on the USS Destroyer Shelton in the South Pacific during the initial testing of the Hydrogen Bomb called  "Operation Redwing" at the Bikini Atoll.

Terrence J. Marlowe, 67, of East Brandywine Township, PA, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.  He was the husband of Robin (Smith) Marlowe for over 39 years.  Born in Darby, PA, he was the son of the late James J. and Mary Jane (Ortolon) Marlowe.

Terry was 1974 graduate of Malvern Prep and received his B.A. from Villanova University in 1978. He then graduated from Temple University Law School in 1981 and practiced in Downingtown. For 16 years he was an adjunct professor at Widener School of Law in Wilmington, DE.

James Joseph Liney, Jr., 91 of Coatesville, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Wellington at Hershey’s Mill Memory Care Community in West Chester, PA. He was the husband of the late Edna May Bickings Liney with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late James J. Liney, Sr. and Catherine E. Groce Liney.

Jim was an area resident all his life. After graduating from Unionville High School in 1951, he proudly served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956. He was employed by Bell Telephone for 36 years, as a telephone repairman.

Susan Myers, 74, of Pomeroy Heights, Coatesville, PA, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. She was the wife of Lewis "Skip" Myers for over 54 years. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Beatrice (White) Kuresko. Susan was a graduate of Coatesville High School and worked at several forms of employment over the course of her life. These included practice manager for a physician surgical practice, Longaberger consultant, and bookkeeper for the Montgomery School in Chester Springs, PA.

William W. Maxwell, 87, of Clifton Forge, VA, formerly of Coatesville, passed away on February 21, 2024 at the Woodlands Health & Rehab Center in Clifton Forge, Virginia. He was the husband of the late Marion A. Slider Maxwell who died in 2020. They shared 65 years of marriage together. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late George T. Maxwell and Lottie Mae Jacobs Maxwell. 

Bill was a Chester County resident most of his life and a 1954 graduate of the former S. Horace Scott High School in Coatesville. After high school he served honorably in the US Army.
