Dr. Roy V. Bergman, VMD, passed away on June 29, 2024, after a brief illness, surrounded by his three children. Though he spent much of his life in Cochranville Pennsylvania, in 2019 Roy moved to Louisville Colorado where he was enjoying retirement, and being closer to his growing family.

Shirley Elaine Root, 88, of East Fallowfield, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Robert L. Root with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late George Pluck and Lulu Bussinger Pluck.

Shirley was an area resident all her life and a 1953 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville. She was employed by the former G and P Garment Manufacturing Company in Coatesville as an inspector. She was a member of the Wagontown Union Chapel in Wagontown, PA.

Daniel J. Dodd, Sr., 74, of Lower Oxford Township, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 5, 2024 at his home.  He was born in Lancaster, PA on August 20, 1949 to the late Lewis and Helen (Branca) Dodd. Dan lived in the Oxford area his entire life.  He lived on Park Street in Oxford before moving to the family farm in Lower Oxford Township. He was a devout Roman Catholic and a life - long member of Sacred Heart Church in Oxford.  He loved anything related to history and was an avid reader of all books with a historical theme.

Sarah Laffey Jagelski of Racine, WI (formerly of Cochranville, PA) passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE, after having an aneurism on June 10, 2024.

Sarah was a 1996 graduate of the Octorara High School.

Sarah loved flowers, birds, cooking, and her family.

  Perry E. Phillips, 93, of West Caln Township, Coatesville, PA, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 29, 2024.  He was the husband of the late Jeanne E. Donovan Phillips who passed away in 2002 after 51 years of marriage.  Born in Parkesburg, PA, on March 13, 1931, he was the son of the late Emory E. and Bertha Wolfe Phillips Sr.  His mother passed away when he was four years old.

Donna J. Boley, 72, of Paradise, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Coatesville, she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Chamberlain and Betty Hamer Chamberlain.

Donna was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Octorara High School in, 1970. After high school, she pursued her passion for helping others by attending nursing school at the Lancaster General Hospital.

H. Andrew "Andy" Zook, 93, of Coatesville, PA passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at St. Martha's Manor in Downingtown, PA. He was the husband of the late Honora "Nora" Lefchuk Zook. They shared 59 years of marriage together before her passing in 2013. Born in South Coatesville, he was the son of the late John Zook and Stella Chesinsky Zook. 

Andy was an area resident most of his life. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in Korea during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952.

Suzanne (Sue) Elizabeth Roderick Benner, 83, of Cochranville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 27, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Howard W. Benner, with whom she shared more than 52 years of marriage until his death in 2015. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Marcy F. and Greta Belshaw Roderick. Suzanne was a graduate of Nether Providence High School in Media PA, and later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Hygiene as a Registered Dental Hygienist.

Clair J. Plank, 72, of Parkesburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in Exton, PA.  He was the husband of Joy (Feaster) Plank.  Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of Clair H. and Rose D. (Trainor) Plank.

Russell Gregory Forsyth, 52, of East Fallowfield, PA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday June 25th, 2024, at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. An avid outdoorsman, Russell loved fishing, hunting and camping. Many of his best memories were made in the woods or by a stream, especially when he was fishing with his grandson, Dominick, who he taught to fish as he was taught by his great-grandfather. His love of nature could be seen as well in the time and care he spent working in the yard and making a bountiful garden.
