One of a Kind
Chuck was an amazing man. He had the ability to talk to anybody and see the pain or stress they held behind their eyes and make it go away. He had a big smile and an even bigger heart. He touched many lives and we are all blessed to have known him. I know I'm not alone when I say that I'm going to miss him dearly, but I know a piece of him will remain with me forever. Ms. Barbara, Mike, and Terry, thank you for sharing him with us and may God bless you and the rest of the family in these difficult times. Rest in peace, Mr. Mayor.

For God So Loved The World.......John 3:16
There are no words that can express the heaviness that lies upon my heart from losing my best friend. In 1988 when I moved here from Norristown Chuck embraced me has a brother and we have been brothers every since. Chuck gave so much of himself to everyone. I am so thankful to God for planting his living word in my heart that I had the honor of sharing it with Chuck. So those who wonder if my brother was a believer or if he was saved I share this with you. I prayed the moment I heard of his passing and for the past two nights 8/13/2010 & 8/14/2010 I woke up in the middle of the night and the clock said 3:16 need I say anymore. Thank you Mrs. Barbara for sharing Chuck with us all.

Our Deepest and Sincere Sympathy to The Lavender Family,
This is such a big shock to all of us. Chuckie was such a nice person and always a pleasure to be around. We may not have seen him much over the years, but when ever we made it to the Points for any cookout, Chuck was there. It's such a pleasure for us to come home and enjoy the Parkesburg, 9 Points family. You are our family and we feel your sorrow too. May the Lord Bless you and Keep you in His Prayers.
I'm sure that Gary and Henry are welcoming Chuck to their Band in Heaven. They're playing for the Lord now.

Words can’t describe how much Chuck meant to me personally. He was my friend, my counselor, my protector, my entertainer, sometimes even my surrogate father … he was my angel on earth. I am deeply saddened by his passing but know that he has moved on to a more beautiful place. I send my most heartfelt condolences and prayers to the entire Lavender family and hope they find comfort in knowing how much Chuck loved, and spoke well of, them. I thank them for sharing Chuck with the rest of us and thank God for sharing him with the world. He positively touched the lives of all he came in contact with and we are all better for knowing him.
Rest in peace, Chuck “Father” Lavender. You will be greatly missed, until we meet again.

Message for family of Chuck Lavender, Jr.
It has been ages since I saw Chuckie, but I ran in to him the other month. I went to OHS with Chuckie we were both involved in sports, so I was able to watch this young man dedicate himself to his sport and his team. It pleased me that he remembered me, without hesitation. We talked for quite a while. He told me how he loved his wife and family, how happy he was with his job and he felt Blessed to have fine friends to laugh and talk with over the years. It was like we didn't miss time, at all. We knew what we were talking about without saying everything. Please feel good, Chuckie knows our Lord and he is with him, no doubt in my mind. There was no coincidence that we chatted that night, for I feel it my heart to let you know he was at peace. He was a beautiful soul and a gentle man with a warm and embracing smile, and I thank God I was able to call him a friend.
From OHS Class of '70

We will miss Chuck's enduring kindness and his wonderfuly smile. It was a pleasure to speak with him and listen to his stories especially about the times he played in a band. We still can't believe he was taken away from this earth but we know he is smiling down on all of us. Especially today, as he goes to his resting place. This is why the sun is shining so brightly on us today. We will miss you till we meet again.
