John Stephen Murphy, 39, of West Chester, PA, passed away suddenly at his home on August 17, 2024. Born in West Chester, he was the son of Kathleen "Kay" Murphy and the late Stephen “Granddad” Murphy who passed away in 2019. John obtained a B.S. of Marketing from York College of Pennsylvania in 2007. After graduation, he worked for The Bank of New York for 12 years in various roles as he grew and advanced his career. After leaving The Bank of New York, he worked at The Vanguard Group. During his tenure at The Vanguard Group, he studied for and successfully obtained his Project Management Certificate (PMP).
John was an avid fan of the Philadelphia sports teams and enjoyed following them and talking about them with his friends and family. John also enjoyed spending time with puppies from The Seeing Eye and was hoping to be able to adopt one someday soon.
Besides his mother, John is survived by a brother, Joseph (Sarah) Murphy of Bear, DE, a sister, Kathleen (Eric) Mest of Reading, PA, and his nieces, Taylor Murphy, Cece Murphy and Katie Mest. He will be missed by all. We love you John Stephen Murphy and you will live in all of hearts forever!
A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Malachi Church Cemetery, 76 St. Malachi Rd., Cochranville, PA.
