Howard Dean Ewing Jr., 67, of Parkesburg, PA, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 18, 2024.  Born on December 12th 1956 in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of Myrtle M. (Lawrence) Reinike of Hesston, PA, and the late Howard Dean Ewing Sr.

Howard had wanted to be an English teacher when he was younger, and enjoyed writing poetry in his free time. He enjoyed fishing, watching football and cartoons, and working on cars. When it came to food his favorite snacks were Boston baked beans, ice cream with hard pretzels, and Cella’s dark chocolate covered cherries with the 100% clear liquid! He had such a big heart for animals and regularly donated to the ASPCA. He loved art and putting together puzzles with his friends at the Parkesburg School Apartments. They have said he was their ray of sunshine and they miss him greatly. He devoted his life to working and taking care of his family and friends to the best of his abilities. Anyone who knew Howie, knew he loved his daughters. The world lost someone truly special when it lost him.

He is survived, in addition to his mother, Myrtle, by his daughters, Rachel Ewing, Linda Ewing, and Jessica Ewing, grandchildren, Thomas and Oliviette, and sibling, Deborah Hollick.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Gibson. He loved and lost Betty Jane Scholl and Levii, his little dog. They were his last companions in this lifetime.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 3:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, 786 Oak St. Coatesville, PA 19320.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to ASPCA.
