Howard McGowan, 63, of Parkesburg, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, June 10 under the care of Hospice and Community Care of Mt. Joy.  He was the husband of Ruth Ann (Hershey) McGowan with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.  

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Katrena (Freeman) and Howard W. McGowan.  

A graduate of Octorara High School, he was a resident of Parkesburg his entire life.  

Howard was self-employed as a highly skilled carpenter and cabinet maker, and took great joy in the quality of his work.  

He was a member of Camp Short Horn in Potter County, where enjoyed hunting and socializing with his friends.  

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his two sons: Christopher McGowan, husband of Sheri, of Gap, and Michael McGowan, husband of Jennifer, of Lancaster; and seven grandchildren.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 15th at 3 PM at the Pequea Baptist Church, 6062 Old Philadelphia Pike, Gap, PA 17527, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.  The viewing will take place on both Sunday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg and again on Monday at the Pequea Baptist Church from 2 until 3 PM.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
