Scott M. Groff, 55, of Gap, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Lancaster County Hospice Center in Mt. Joy, PA. He was the beloved husband of Jeanene M. Stanley Groff with whom he shared 22 years of marriage. Born in Plattsburgh, New York, he was the son of Nancy J. Towber Groff Varnes and the late John S. Groff. He is the stepson to Denny A. Varnes.
Scott was an area resident most of his life and attended Pequea Valley Schools. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1989 and served honorably in the Gulf War. Scott worked in quality control at Three Mile Island nuclear power plant and later transferred to Peach Bottom.
In addition to his wife and mother, Scott is survived by one daughter, Samantha J. Groff, as well as his Jack-A-Bee dog, Charley. He was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Y. Groff. He enjoyed watching the sunrise at the beach, playing golf, cheering on the Philadelphia sports teams, and helping the McGrane’s at motorcycle races.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing from 9:30 AM to the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.
