Emmy Lou Nevin, 94, of New Holland, formerly of Atglen, passed away on March 29th at Garden Spot Village in New Holland, PA. Born March 22, 1915 in New Hampden, VA, she was the daughter of the late Uriah and Clara Mauzy Hevener. During World War II, Emmy Lou worked for the Selective Service in Washington, D.C., where she met her future husband, Glenn W., who was stationed at the White House. They were married for 56 years until his death in 2000.

Emmy Lou was a graduate of Cochranville High School and West Chester State Teacher's College. She taught elementary music education in the Coatesville Area School District.

A longtime resident of Atglen, PA, she was a member of the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and served as the choir director for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and was an avid reader.

She is survived by two sons, William G. Nevin, husband of Rebecca, both of Frederick, MD; Samuel S. Nevin of Gordonville, PA; one daughter, Patricia L., wife of James Orlando, both of Centreville, VA; and two grandchildren, Michael J. and Lauren C. Orlando. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Martha Hickman, Glen Hevener and Samuel Hevener.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, 406 Main Street, Atglen, PA on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 11 AM. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church at the above address or to the American Cancer Society, 1615 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382.
