Karen A. Breitenbach, 72, of Steelville, PA passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of James L. Breitenbach with whom she shared almost 52 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the Joseph Walter Kita, Sr. and Helen Elliot Kita.

Karen was an area resident all her life and a 1970 graduate of the Octorara Area High School.

She was employed, most of her life, as a Chef and worked at various local restaurants. Later in life Karen changed careers and became a Retirement Specialist at Vanguard, where she worked until her own retirement.  She attended the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Coatesville, PA.

She is survived, in addition to her husband, by three children; Kelly Ford and husband Gabriel of East Fallowfield, PA, Patricia Breitenbach of Pomeroy, PA and Harry Breitenbach of Atglen, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two sisters; Kathy Barlow and husband William of Wilmington, DE and Sharon Lawson and husband Curtis of Malone, FL. She was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph W. Kita, Jr.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 6:00 PM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with visitation from 5:00 PM to the time of the service.

Mr. Bricky, Harry, and Patty you have my deepest sympathy. She was a wonderful lady. I still remember her from a 4th grade field trip. You are in my prayers.

Karen reached out to me as a neighbor in 1977 and it was always good to connect over the years if even only by the phone. She was always ready to share a positive story about her husband, children or grandchildren. Our condolences to her family as she will most certainly be missed. Jimmy, you and the kids are in our hearts.
