John Franklin “Truck” Miller, 83, of Coatesville, passed away at Paoli Hospital on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Blanche (Preston) Miller and John Miller. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Brownback) Miller with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
John was a 1957 graduate of Coatesville Area High School and went on to honorably serve our nation in the United States Marine Corps. He was later employed by Lukens Steel of Coatesville.
He served as Vice President of Clearfield Valley View Hunt Club and was a trustee at the West End Fire Company.
John was a talented basketball player and also participated in a variety of adult softball leagues and is credited with pitching a perfect game.
He is survived in addition to his wife by one son: Daniel Miller and his wife Kim of Honey Brook. Additionally, he is survived by two siblings: Verna Hurley and husband Pat of Atglen, and Ella Davis and husband Jack, 3 grandchildren: Tad Miller, Laura Miller, and Tate Miller, 4 great-grandchildren: Jaxton, Waylon, Valerie, and Cameron.
He is preceded in death by one son: John Christopher Miller (2021) and 2 siblings: William Miller and Joseph Miller.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

I met Truck while playing senior softball, as an opposing player. We hit it off well and were always happy to see each other.
A true gentleman in my eyes. I guess we connected also because I was a Fire Chief at Kennett in the day and knew many fire fighters as well as good players. I also was an umpire. I could hit a ball as far and hard as many. I think he liked that and how I played the game. I had not seen him since the league we played in folded, but I always remember enjoyed see him on game night and giving a bro hug to him.

He was a fine man. Quiet, unassuming and truthful to a fault! I am proud to say he was my friend! I will miss him and hope to see him again someday! There is no doubt in my mind that he is in heaven right now, looking down on us and laughing that laugh of his!
Truck Miller
I will miss truck ,we meet about 25 years ago, playing soft ball, we hit it off rite away , he was a competitive player, just like myself but also a very caring person,I have not seen truck for about 8 years, but we did keep in touch, the world miss a good player, but a better person, rest in peace my friend 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Rich Melton
He is my children’s uncle
He is my children’s uncle Jack as I was married to his brother William at one time. He was a fine man and he and his wife were kind enough to allow my son Brian to live with them while stationed in the navy there. My son really thought a lot of him. RIP Barbara Miller Reese
