Florie E. Killinger
Florie E. Killinger, 94, of Pomeroy, PA, passed away at Harrison House in Coatesville on Sunday, December 11, 2022. She was the wife of Charles R. Killinger for over 47 years. Born on Hephzibah Hill in East Fallowfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Fillmore J. and Lillian Osborn Pugh.
Florie worked at the New Idea Laundry in Coatesville and also at Bentley and Harris Fiberglass Company of Lionville. She also sold Avon products for many years. Florie was a huge Elvis fan and also enjoyed listening to country music. She was a life member of the Pomeroy Fire Company Auxiliary.
She is survived by her caregivers and niece, Dianne Grande (David) of Coatesville, and nephew Larry Rhoades of Pomeroy. She is also survived by her son, Ronald Pugh of New Holland, PA, granddaughters, Lisa and Leslie Pugh, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews . She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Susan Pugh (Ronald), and siblings, Mary Rhoades (Earl), May Osborn, Emma McFann (Donald), Frank Pugh (Elizabeth), Albert Pugh (Geneva), Calvin Pugh (Marie), and Elmer Pugh.
Florie and Charles enjoyed traveling, especially to the mountains of Pennsylvania. For many years they enjoyed going to the Christmas Show, and various shows at the American Music Theater. Florie enjoyed going on long rides especially this time of year, with her niece Dianne Grande and her grand niece, Mary Grande to see all of the Christmas Displays and stopping for supper. She loved playing PO-KE-NO and Yahtzee and other card games. She enjoyed knitting, making sweaters, scarfs, afghans, slippers and also embroidering, baby blankets, pillow cases and many other items for furniture and bedding. She also enjoyed making cookies, especially sand tarts.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, PA 19365 with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. John's Episcopal Cemetery in Gap, PA.
