William "Chet" Ramsay III

William Chester "Chet" Ramsay III, 85, of East Fallowfield Township, PA, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 27, 2022. He was the husband of the late Jean M. Ramsay who passed in 2020. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late William Chester Jr. and Edith Wood Ramsay.
Chet was a self employed Antique dealer specializing in music boxes. He was a member of the Fallowfield Friends Meeting House. He was Past Master of Masonic Lodge #564 in Coatesville. He was a Boy Scout leader, member of the Chester County Trail Club, Friends of Hibernia, and the Musical Box Society International.
He is survived by his daughters, Dianne Caldwell of Gap, PA, and Connie Ramsay of Lancaster, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy McNally.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, PA, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. Masonic services will be held at 10:50 a.m. Interment to follow at Fallowfield Friends Burial Grounds, Coatesville, PA. We have lost a good friend
Lisa, myself, and our family send our sincere condolences to the extended Ramsay family. Chet and Jean were good friends. He was an amazing guy, and I learned a lot from him, but the thing I think he taught me more than anything was patience. One could go on about his skill in restoring, well, anything that needed restoring, actually, but especially music boxes. But his friendship and good heart is what I will most remember him for. He always made us feel as if our visit, our conversation, our phone call, our trip to Perkins for dinner, whatever, was the most important thing he had to do that day. He was a man of strong, but quiet morals who went the extra mile to help others, whether servicing a music box or lending a hand wherever it was needed. As Jean was fighting her health battles, Chet was there with her every step of the way, and it was heartwarming to see her light up when he would hold her hand and smile at her. I'm sure she was holding her hand out for him to take it once more, and that the two of them are reunited and happy together again. We have lost a good friend, but we are better for having known him. Sorry For Your Loss
Chet used to attend our auctions regularly years ago and we always had something to talk about. He was a good guy and I'm sure will be missed by many. My sympathy is extended to his family.

A nice man, with a nice family. I last seen him when he did a presentation of his music boxes at the People's Hall in Ercildoun. RIP Mr Ramsey. My condolences to his family.
Just learned of Chet’s passing
We just found out about this when trying to contact Chet with a question. We met him late in his life when he was intently involved with the care needed for his ailing wife Jean. He took the time to meet with us several times where we spent hours talking about what was required to restore our recently acquired music box and walk us through amazing displays of his own personal collection. He then went out of his way to work on our machine to complete restoration so we had it back in time for the holiday season. He provided knowledge and the patience to share it with us. His stories and easy going nature, let alone his knowledge are sadly missed. He truly cultivated our interest in collecting mechanical music. A tribute to the man and his love of the same.
