Parkesburg

Herman C. Wyatt Sr., 83, of Parkesburg, returned to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Newport Meadows in Christiana.  He was the husband of Margaret Mattson Wyatt for the last 19 years and shared 42 years of marriage with Vada Pennington Wyatt who passed in 2001. Born in White Top, VA, and raised in Chilhowie, VA, he was the fifth of ten children born to the late Claude Swanson and Maggie Mae Hart Wyatt.

He will be missed most for his kind heart, big bear hugs, infectious laughter, and his love of God.  He was a lifelong member of Christ Community Fellowship in West Grove, where he made many friends throughout the years.  He was actively involved in several ministries, including serving as a greeter and usher, driving the church bus, and setting up for Wednesday night bible study.
He was a machinist by trade, working at Norwood Industries in Malvern and later at the Davy Paper Company in Downingtown with many of the same work crew.  He spent most of his free time with his family.

His hobbies included bowling, singing, and playing the guitar upside down and left-handed. You could also find him at Sunset Park attending various country concerts, enjoying monthly breakfasts at the Bart Fire House, and taking frequent road trips to Virginia to visit family. He and his first wife, Vada, were known for welcoming anyone looking for a home-cooked meal or a place to stay.
Christmas just won't be the same without our Poppy.  He always took it upon himself to hand out each and every present.  He always had a way of making everybody feel special, including his great-granddaughter, Allison King, and great-niece, Melissa Mercer. The family would like to thank Fayanne Mattson, who was his loyal sister-in-law and caretaker for many years before he required nursing home care.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Bonnie Lou (Jim) Phillips of Toughkenamon, Leesa Ann (Allan) Shoemaker of Quarryville, step-children, Fred (Lisa) Butler of Sadsburyville, Tina (Carl) Steffe of Coatesville, Joe (Jean) Butler of Parkesburg, grandchildren, Tammy Wyatt, Heather Wyatt, Amanda Phillips, Bridget (Bobby) Kirkner, four great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren, and siblings, Agnes Miller of Peach Bottom, Raleigh (Juanita) Wyatt of Marion, VA, Ilene Roland, Shirley (Ric) Sheets, and Bobby (Jean) Wyatt,  all of Chilhowie, VA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Herman "Chuck" Wyatt Jr., siblings Ruby Royal, Jean Reeves, Donald Wyatt, and Reece Wyatt, and a step-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Fellowship, 356 Chatham Rd., West Grove, PA, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment to follow at the church cemetery.
