Sherman McLucas, Jr., 89, of Christiana, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Brandywine Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary K. (Thomas) McLucas who died in 2019. They shared 67 years of marriage together. Born in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Sherman McLucas, Sr. and Pauline Shanaberger McLucas.
Sherman was a Chester County resident for over 65 years. He was employed most of his life as a truck driver working for various trucking companies. 
After retirement, he enjoyed driving for the local Amish Community. He was a member of the Downing Hills Mennonite Church, Downingtown, PA.
He is survived by four children: Roy McLucas of Atglen, Joy Green of Honey Brook, Diane Kay Johnni of Hatfield, and Brenda Gay Tomlinson and husband William H. of Parkesburg, eight grandchildren: Elizabeth Johnni, Stephen Johnni, Kimberly Richards, Kelley Tomlinson, Sarah Tomlinson, Rachel McLucas, John-Paul Johnni, and Kassondra McLucas and eight great grandchildren: Nicholas Oliva, Jordan Crabbe, Saydi Syphard, Tiras Crabbe, Darrell Syphard, Eli Johnni, Adelyn Johnni, and Jakob Buel and one sister Patty Ruys of St. Petersburg, FL. He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Due to the current restriction on public gatherings, services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Learning of Uncle Shud's death over the weekend sadened me, BUT what a life he lead. I am ever so grateful for the childhood mememories you leeave me with, the Big Rigs, the truck models, the AMC Matadors/Cadillacs...the memories from the house in Malvern, and the rehab house up in Tire Hill, PA... You will be missed dearly. Please say hello to Aunt Mary Kay....and to Dad. May you rest in peace. Love you all....nephew, Kurt McLucas.

Remembering your dad, my Uncle Sherm
Realizing I don't have current addresses for all of you to send cards, I will use this forum instead! Each of us grieve in our own ways and I know that as we did with Daddy, you have been grieving for a long time as he slowly slipped away from the father you remembered. May the happy memories, the little things that are meaningful only to each of you, sustain and comfort you. May your faith give you strength and peace. When I was a little kid, I thought Sherm was SO handsome and he was! I'm sure you all remember that your dad taught me to drive his 3-on-the-column stick shift American Motors Rambler after I wrecked my car while I was living with your family. He was SO kind and so patient with me...far more than my own father would have been in the same circumstance! I stalled it out, ground the gears and slipped the clutch and all the while Sherm just sat there, smiling and when I apologized over and over, would say "O you can't hurt this car! Try again!...or try doing this" He insisted that get behind the wheel the same day I had the wreck so I wouldn't freeze when I finally did and he was so right. And he let me use his car till I got another one...amazing generosity! Sherm was the most mellow person I think I ever knew. If he ever lost his temper, I never saw it. He laughed a lot as I remember and was fun. I know you will all miss him fiercely but be comforted that he is restored and in the presence of our Lord. My condolences to the family. I had the privilege of working with Sherm at James Spring and Wire, and when he had his accident, I gave blood, the one and only time I ever did. He was a good man who was a lot of fun. - Ralph King
