Barbara Ann Althouse, 86, of Cochranville, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Pocopson Home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late L. Wayne Althouse who died in 2005. They shared 51 years of marriage together. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late John M. Bailey and Anna McGarvey Bailey.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Cochranville and a graduate of the former West Fallowfield Township High School in Cochranville. After high school, she continued her education at the Lancaster School of Business. She worked most of her life alongside her family at Althouse Transportation.

Barb was a member of the Cochranville United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and she was an active member of the Cochranville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by four devoted children; Larry, husband of Lynn Hadley Althouse, John D. "Jody", husband of Sharon Hershey Althouse, Scott, husband of Debra Stapleton Althouse and B. Diane, wife of Stephen A. Lubrano, all of Cochranville, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 12:00 noon at the Cochranville United Methodist Church, 92 Church Drive, Cochranville, PA 19330. Visitation at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara's memory to the Cochranville Methodist Church at the above address or Faith Bible Chapel, 140 Bernard Ave., Cochranville, PA 19330.

I was so sorry to learn of your Mom's passing.  Your Dad and Mom seemed like family.  I worked for Art Hershey in his district office for many years and got to know both of them.

My DEEPEST CONDOLENCES to All the family !!!  The Althouse family was a daily name of pride growing up ... from my momma Jean driving bus for them to going to school with Scott , and then working for them driving bus 🚌.... a beautiful caring family indeed .  God bless you ALL ! My sincerest sympathies for the passing of Mrs. Althouse.  She was a very sweet lady and I cherish the friendship we enjoyed in her later years.  I miss planting her flowers and our long talks.  May she Rest In Peace , in the 'Garden'.  Love, Pam

Just heard about your mom`s passing.   So sorry for your loss.  I have many great memories of both your mother and father.  They were great people!  Losing parents is very difficult....i will be praying for all of you.
