Obituary – Albert John Plueddemann (02.28.1926 – 01.03.2020)
Albert John Plueddemann, 93, of Wayne & Lavallette NJ (most recently Cochranville PA), passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020. He was the dedicated and loving husband of Mary Eleanor (Patterson) Plueddemann (dec. October 2002). Born in Pigeon, Michigan, he was the son of the late Reverend Paul W. and Lillie Gohlke Plueddemann, and was preceded in death by six siblings: Ruth, Carl, Edwin, Vera, Grace, and Lois.
After serving with the Army Air Force in the Pacific Theatre during WWII, he returned to put himself through college and then Law School with the help of the military GI bill. He passed the Michigan Bar, but chose to join State Farm Insurance where he ultimately worked for 35 years – last serving in Wayne as NJ Division Manager.
His artistic and creative side shown through at different times in his life, from early days of vaudeville acts, to art class in New York City, to holding community college lectures on Egypt, to serving as the Plueddemann family historian. He could also extemporaneously burst into song or poem at a moment’s notice!
Al and Mary were active members of the United Methodist Church in Wayne NJ – serving as Youth Group leaders, holding various offices, and lending their voices to the choir. Al was also an avid sport – his favorites being tennis, golf, & bowling – and also had an affinity for water, having owned a boat of some sort most of his adult life and enjoying many years on the water at the NJ shore.
Al is survived by his children, Linda (Tom) Crane of Tucson AZ, Al Plueddemann of Woods Hole MA, and Pam (Dave) Meek of Cochranville PA; and was the proud grandfather to Rachel, Seth, Alaina, Alexander, Sarah, Nicole, and Mikayla; and great grandfather to Matthew and Nathaniel.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 11:30am at Stillwaters Presbyterian Church, 643 Coatesville Rd., West Grove PA. A visitation will be held prior at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main Street, Parkesburg PA on Saturday from 9:00am until 10:30am. Interment will be at BG General William C. Doyle Military Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ, with a subsequent interment planned at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove MI.

Condolences
Al Plueddemann
Al's obit is an accurate portrayal. The last time I saw him was at a restaurant in Saratog Spriings, where we were having a late lunch with he and John Vary and his wife. It was a late Sunday and Al was planning to drive back to his Pennsylvania address. In last summer the traffic on the Thruway south is extemely heavy. There is no way I would make that trip, but Al was on his way. Typical--full speed ahead! That is my memory and that is Al. Sorry for your loss.
with Sympathy
Pam and family, with saddness, I extend my sympathy to you and your family on the passing of your father. I have memories of times when he stopped by the old branch in Parkesburg to transact some business. He always left us with a smile.
