Allen R. Herr, 81, of Christiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn C. Herr, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in Highland Township, Allen was the son of the late Zelva V. and Noah S. Herr.
Allen was a farm boy and always a farmer at heart, he worked as a carpenter until a career as the Chief Surveyor in Engineering Construction at the former Lukens Steel, retiring after 40 years of service.
In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling and caring for his garden and farm animals. After retiring he enjoyed traveling, biking, car shows, playing the organ and family genealogy.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his two children: Sharon L. Glick, wife of Calvin, of Quarryville and Bryan A. Herr, husband of Denise, of Strasburg; four grandchildren: Ellyn, Kathryn, Caleb and Madison; and one sister, Mary Weiser of West Chester.
He was predeceased by five of his siblings. Lester, Ethel Kuhn, John, Elizabeth (Moyer) Horrex, Charles.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Faith Community United Methodist Church, 332 Chester Street, Atglen, PA with the Rev. Mark E. Beideman officiating. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the church from 10:00 AM to the time of the service. Interment will be private at the Penningtonville Presbyterian Cemetery of Atglen.

so DEEPLY sorry to hear of the passing Of Allen. My prayers go out to Evelyn and Sharon and Bryan. My father would often talk about how Allen took over the Geneology of the “Herr” family as he Loved researching and compiling pictures of the Herrs and sending to Allen.
