George I. "Bud" McGinnis

George I. "Bud" McGinnis, 66, of Highland Twp., passed away on Sunday, August 19th at Tower West Reading Hospital. He was the son of the late Minerva (Lantz) and George Ira McGinnis, Sr.
A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Octorara High School and a graduate of Lancaster Bible College.
Bud served honorably in the US Army.
He was self-employed as a painter.
Bud was an avid hunter.
Bud loved being with his brothers in the mountains hunting or just hanging out, also with his nieces and nephews. His faith in God was unwavering and it was evident in his relationships to people around him. Everyone felt the results of his kindness.
Bud loved history and read many books, he also loved taking mini trips with whoever would go with him.
He is survived by his siblings: Pearl Canale of Gap, Sharon Stoltzfus of Gap, Barbara McGinnis of Philadelphia, Rodger McGinnis of Gap, Doris McGinnis of Parkesburg, Daryal McGinnis of Mohnton, Darlene Porter of Paradise, and Christine Landis of Paradise.
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 28th, 2018 at 11 AM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in Millwood Cemetery of Gap. The viewing will be from 10 until 11 AM.

Deepest Sympathy
To Buds family. We know the sadness that comes when you lose a sibling. Bud was younger than me but he went to school with my sister Lillian, I went to school with Barb. I personally knew some members of your family and offer up prayers for strength at this time of sorrow. He is now with our savior. Gods Blessings
He will be missed
Bud was a great man. He stayed in touch with everybody and not on facebook, but by actually stopping by and visiting. He would bring fruits and vegetables for Daryal or books if he thought they would interest you. He was able pick up and continue on conversations from the last time he was over. I liked to watch him think before he spoke and hear what he had to say. I will definitely remember him and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

"Buddy"
It sadden me to hear God did not answer our prayers as we wanted him to..as you see...he had other plans for Buddy. I got to know him when he lived with Melvin for the time he did. He was always lending a hand...always offering me coffee or dinner when I went down each night after work to check on them. They would be sitting out on the closed in porch watching the birds and squirrels. I always said with Buddy feeding them, Enola had the fattest squirrels around. Then they would come in and watch the news together, discussing the world affairs. At Christmas, I gave Buddy a gift and he returned mine with a big bag of black oil sunflower seeds for my birds. This is how I wish to remember him. May your memories also give you comfort in knowing Buddy is in heaven and as each day passes, it will be one more closer to seeing him again.
Remembering his prayer request
I attended Lancaster Bible College with Bud and I remember asking him if he had any prayer request I could intercede for. He simply asked me to pray that he would have more love for people. I never forgot that.
