George E. Dickinson

George E. Dickinson, 78, of South Coatesville, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at his home.  He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Thompson Dickinson, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage.


 

Born in Pomeroy, he was the son of the late Edward and Josephine (Hammond) Dickinson.

 

He was employed by the VA Medical Center, the former Lukens Steel and the Coatesville Area School District.  He served honorably in the Korean War with the US Army, earning two Bronze Stars.  

 

He was a member of the Brewer Memorial Baptist Church in Stottsville.  He was also a member of the Parkesburg Fishing Club.

 

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his children: Sabrina of Wilkes Barre, James of Lancaster, Barry (Annetta) of Pomeroy, Janie (Marvin) of Coatesville, Joni (Alvester) of Thorndale, Jon (Wanda) of Coatesville, Laurie (William) of Pomeroy, Kenneth (Annette) of Parkesburg, Deborah (Ralph) of Coatesville, Victor (Arlene) of Leola; 33 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.  

 

He was predeceased by three children, Gary, Dana and Gail; as well as his siblings, Edward Dickinson, Catherine Toalton, Mildred Hicks, Josephine Hammond and Doris London.  

 

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main Street, Parkesburg, Pa, followed by internment in the Mt. Zion Cemetery of Atglen.  The viewing will held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

to the Dickinson family, I worked with Mr George for 10+ yrs at East Fallowfield school. He was a wonderful person, always helpful and friendly to everyone. I am sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in knowing that any pain and suffering he may have endured is gone and he now walks with the Lord. God Bless all of you.

Dear family,

Me and my husband are vesry sorry to hear such sad news. We understand how difficult it is to lose someone. Something that had help us is to know that God cares and give us comfort. Also give us hope for the future, promising to swallow up death for ever and raised the ones that had died. I hope this words of comfort have help you and your family.
