Barbara L. Mellinger, 89, of Parkesburg, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, December 17, 2015. She was the wife of the late Charles Leroy Mellinger who died in 1988. Born in Winchester, VA, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Catherine Golightly Lonas.

Barb was an area resident most of her life. She was employed by Super Fresh in Caln retiring in 1988. She was an active 56 year member of the Hephzibah Baptist Church where she served on the Hospitality Committee and was part of the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. 

She is survived by two daughters; Barbara M. Haldeman and husband Kenneth of Sadsburyville and Joanne M. Ash and husband Arthur of Coatesville, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and three siblings; Dorothy Lawrence of Downingtown, Edgar "Bucky" Lonas of Cochranville and Norman Lonas of Parkesburg. She was preceded in death by one daughter Shirley Mellinger and five siblings; Catherine Marsh, Peg Simms, Olin, Robert and John Lonas.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 11:00am from the Hephzibah Baptist Church, 2237 Strasburg Rd, East Fallowfield, PA 19320 followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.  Viewing at the church from 9:30am until 11:00am.  

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Hephzibah Baptist Church at the above address.

Barb, Joanne and family,  your Mother was such a great lady and she will be missed by many, especially my Mother.  I've not been in close touch with my family there in Pennsylvania, but I will never forget the years we lived in Buck Run and used to go sleding through the field then into your yard.  I loved your Mom so much but rejoice in knowing that we will see her again in Heaven.  We are praying for God's comfort and love for all of you during this time.
