Frances K. Herr (Babel), 90, of Parkesburg started a new journey Saturday, February 1, 2015 surrounded by her family on what would have been her 60th Wedding Anniversary.

Frances, known to most as Nan or Fran, was born in Washington, PA and grew up in Rock Run, PA.  She was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Tatataylo) Babel.  She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer “Tug” Herr, daughter Deborah Collins, grandsons Jon Keshuta, Terry Hirsch, brothers Harry Babel, John Babel, sisters Mary Zook, and Caroline “Tootie” DiPietroantonio.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Joanne Duca (Collins) wife of Peter Duca of Thorndale, Pa; Goddaughter and niece Lisa Babel of Parkesburg, Pa; granddaughters Shelley Keshuta (Marvin Colona) of Chester Springs, Pa; Stacey Mitchell (Kevin) of Thorndale, Pa; grandsons Justen Coleman (Sasha), Thorndale, Pa; Michael Hirsch of Front Royal, Va; great-grandsons, Colin Keshuta of Downingtown, Pa; Terry Hirsch Jr. of Pa, and CJ Colona of Chester Springs, Pa.; her understanding niece Patricia Newport (Don) of Dundalk, Md; and sister-in-law Elaine Babel of Parkesburg, Pa; in addition to her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she held close to her heart.

Frances graduated from the Coatesville Schools.  She was an independent, hardworking, feisty, proud woman, a combination of rainbows and tsunamis all in one!  She loved to be the center of her family.  In her younger days she loved to paint, fish, walk the beaches of Virginia, and getting into her car and taking off to parts unknown.  She loved to sing and dance, was proud to be of Ukrainian heritage, never losing her ability to speak her language.

She joins her husband and family to begin another chapter.  Interment is private.  Arrangements are being handled by Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg, Pa.
