Dorothy Davis Kilgore, 98, of Hickory House, died on Friday, February 11, 2011. She is now with her Risen Lord, along with her husband, the late Paul N. Kilgore with whom she shared 63 years of marriage, her son Paul L. Kilgore, her four daughters; Virginia "Ginny" DeForest, Louise Kilgore, Katherine "Katie" Beale and Margaret "Peggy" Mohr and her parents Lewis and Florence Berkeheiser Davis.
Dorothy lived most of her life in Gum Tree, until her health started to fail. At which time she moved in with her daughter Peggy and her husband Sam, where she had resided for seven years before moving to Hickory House a year and a half ago.
She was employed at the former Coatesville Hospital as a nurses' aide retiring in 1970 with 18 years of service. She also owned her own business, Kilgore Ceramics, and went to shows selling her ceramics and yarn products. She gave up crocheting a year and a half before she passed.
Dorothy was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church in Gum Tree and she helped with the Gum Tree 4-H Club.
She is survived by one son Donald Kilgore of New Bern, NC, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 11:00 am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery in East Fallowfield, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the funeral home from 10 to 11:00 am.
