Scott, my thoughts and prayers are with you, your mom was truly a kind sweet lady. I always enjoyed spending time with her and will always remember when she and your Aunt invited me to the beach with them! Whenever I saw her she always was geniunely happy to see me!
I know how close the two of you were, having only one child myself you are more than child and parent, you are best friends. She loved you and her love for you will remain with you forever.
Fondly, Ramona
Thank You for Your Kind Note of Condolence
Your fond memories of Mrs. Rice are a pleasure to read and we appreciate it so much that you took the time to write. She was such a warm and bright light in the lives of the people she knew and I am very fortunate, as her daughter-in-law, to be a part of her family. We know she is in heaven now and at peace along side her loved ones; yet always present in our hearts and the places she loved.
With many thanks,
Linda and Scott
So sorry
Dear Scott and Linda, I was so glad that I got to see Aunt Helen a couple times recently. Both times she was sitting there knitting her dish cloths. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Les and family.
We Appreciate the Time You Gave
Dear Les,
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop in and see Mrs. Rice. She always enjoyed company and we appreciate that you brightened her days with your visits. Your thoughts and prayers are a comfort to us. So many friends and family members will miss her. She had all the special qualities that those from her generation possessed, as does your mom. They truly came from a very special time that we may never see again.
Our thanks and our best to all,
Linda and Scott
In a world where change is
In a world where change is rapid and constant, my visits to Aunt Helen's house never changed. For what seems like fifty years, I could always count on an attentive ear and good conversation over a cup of coffee there. And her homemade fruit cake, along with some hand-knit dish cloths, to show up in the mailbox a few days before Christmas, frugally packaged in a repurposed facial tissue box and wrapped in an inside-out paper grocery bag. Thank you for annually teaching me the art of frugality. I appreciated her rock-solid presence; something constant. A lot of things in this world are uncertain. But not Aunt Helen. I always knew what I could count on with her. Thank you for modeling what I aspire to: a rock-solid presence for a younger person who knows what they can count on from me. I will miss you. Scott, you were blessed to have Aunt Helen for a mother. I hope you are peaceful with her passing.
Thank You for Your Kind Words
Your description of your Aunt Helen could not have been more kind nor more accurate. As my mother-in-law, I met her only after her nieces and nephews were grown, but heard many stories of her sweetness and caring toward you all when you were young. Scott realizes how blessed he was to have such wonderful parents to love, raise and protect him. He made sure he was always there for his mother in every way after his father passed. She could never say enough to friends and strangers alike how good he was to her. She only received in return the goodness she lived by and instilled in her son.
Mrs. Linda Rice
Scott and Linda, We were so
Scott and Linda,
We were so sorry to hear of your Moms passing. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you both during this difficult time. Although we didn't know your Mom it was so nice to be able to read the warm messages of condolences and sweet memories of your precious Mom giving us a glimpse of the wonderfully kind and steadfast woman she was to you and others. Scott she left in you a wonderful legacy of kindness, strength, and love that you share with so many friends. Your Moms love is one of the truest of blessings. Sending you prayers for peace, comfort, and big hugs to you and Linda.
Thank You So Much to All
Dear Lori, Joe and Family ~
Your thoughtful words are a real comfort to us. She was a truly a kind and loving person, even to the last. She always reassured us she was fine, as if not to cause us any added worry. But that's what mothers do, isn't it...
To have her at peace now is a blessing after her struggle with illness. And we will miss her terribly.
With many heartfelt thanks,
Linda and Scott

Mrs. Rice
Scott and Linda,
When I first met Mrs. Rice, I knew I really, really liked her and wished that she were my mother. She was always friendly and outgoing with never
a loss for topics to talk about. I just read the email from Barry Schlimme and could not begin to recreate what he described in receiving her fruit cakes at Christmas time. They were so accurately described and the packaging was identical every year. I have saved all the knitted kitchen towels she made to fill the tissue box so as not to damage the fruit cakes. I asked her for her recipe and she was adamant it was not ever going public, it was her secret....and I say it was the BEST I ever tasted. Even though I had not seen her in quite a few years, I tried to remember her at holidays. She will be missed by all who knew her and I know you, Scott and Linda, will miss her. You are all in my prayers and I send you my love and Ed's love and condolences at this time. Love, Patty and Ed
I knew Helen when she and I
I knew Helen when she and I both worked at Lukens. We shared many lunch times together. I was drawn to her friendliness and great personality. I remembered your Dad as well too. I can see her with her knitting and I remember that she made a yellow sweater for my daughter when she was born. I loss touch with her after I left Lukens, but will always remember her kindness.
