So sorry Miss Shirley and Family about our Mr. Bob's passing. Paul and I know he is in God's hands now and is at peace. He was like a second Dad to Paul and I. We thank God that we knew him, was a great Christian example to us, and that he was in our lives for over 17 years.....and that he liked ham radio and Nascar!

I worked with Bob at D'Ambrosio's in Downingtown back in 1989-90 before leaving for the Army. Bob and his wife sent me letters and care packages and always signed them, "Ma and Pa Kettle". Bob was one of the first people I met as a mechanic and he was very patient taking time away from his work to show a young 18 year old kid how to do the job right. i bought my first sideband radio off of him and he took me to a ham radio festival. When we left the Downingtown shop in August of 1990, we packed all our tools up in my truck and left together. He use to tell me stories of growing up in Virginia and was proud to call himself a hillbilly before it was a cool term used on today's TV shows.
Bob you will be missed! Until we meet again!

"Uncle Bob" as I would call him, was a kind and gentle soul who gave of himself to young men who looked up to him as both an experienced mechanic and good friend. I had fun learning about ham radio from him, meeting his family, and working next to him at the old D'Ambrosio's in Downingtown. He was a gifted mechanic who instilled the value of doing the job right in those around him. I valued his willingness to help me and others when we worked there, and I have many times remembered his kindness to me by trying to pass that same gift to others. Although I thought he had moved back to his beloved Virginia, I regret now to find that I missed out on keeping in touch here in Chester County. Go gently, good and faithful gentleman - you are loved and will be missed. "Cousin Larry".

So very sorry to read about Bob. We just heard about it. The good Lord will take care of him now in your absence. The suffering has ended and now there is eternal peace. The "ham" radio functions, smiling face, and kiddingly abuse we all got from him will be sadly missed. Catch You Down The Coax OM, ~ N3LIB de K3UIP & XYL sk

My thoughts and prayers are with the Altizer family during this difficult time. Bob taught me many valuable lessons as a young man working at Airport Amoco. Bob was a kind and gentle man who loved his family most of all. Everyone who interacted with Bob is a better person for it. Rest in peace my friend and your memory will always remain in our hearts.
