Edna Pirches, 81, of Sadsburyville, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. She was the widow of the late George R. Pirches, Jr. who died in 2000. Born in Cochranville, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Isabella Griffith Barrage.
Edna was an area resident all her life and a 1951 graduate of the Scott High School. She was employed for 25 years by Pepperidge Farms in Downingtown. She was a member of the Kings Way Independent Church of Sadsburyville.
Edna was an avid bingo player at Westwood Fire Hall. She also enjoyed playing the slot machines, listening to country music and shopping in Delaware.
She is survived by three sons; George R. Pirches, III and wife Sherry of Sadsburyville, Kenneth W. Pirches and wife Gale of West Caln Township, Raymond A. Pirches of Sadsburyville, one daughter Carol L., wife of Robert Bisignaro, Jr. of Sadsburyville, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, five siblings; Harry Eugene Barrage of Honey Brook, John Barrage of Coatesville, George Barrage of W. Caln, Deanna Benard of Paradise and Dixie Stauffer of Morgantown, sister-in-law Molly Barrage of Sadsburyville and brother-in-law Charles Stringer of Downingtown and three dear friends; Paul Amole, Norma Jones and Mary Alice Dominick. She was preceded in death by four siblings; Russell Barrage, Robert Barrage, Gladys Hardy and Patsy Stringer.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 11am from the Kings Way Independent Church, 55 Morris Lane, Sadsburyville, PA 19369 followed by interment at the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery. Viewing at the church from 9 to 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army 669 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, Pa. 19320.
