George Richard "String" Hoskins, Sr, age 86, of West Caln died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at
the VA Medical Center.
He was the husband of Darlene Giannotta Hoskins.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late George (Sonny) Maris Hoskins and the late Isabella Lake Hoskins. He resided in the Coatesville area all his life.
He was a 1945 graduate of S. Horace Scott Senior High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Pacific Theatre during W.W.II and during the Korean Conflict. His time was spent in Japan and Korea.
He worked for the former Lukens Steel Co., retiring in 1991 after 35-1/2 years of service.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, The Lukens Veteran's Guild, a life member of the West End Fire Co. #3, a life member of the Parkesburg VFW Post #4480, and the Senior Circle, Brandywine Chapter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, George (Rick) Hoskins, Jr of Indianola, WA and Brian (Cheri) Hoskins of Parkesburg; two daughters, Linda Profeto of Coatesville, and Barbara (Steve) Patterson of Coatesville. A stepson, John (Yvette) Dively of Kennett Square and a stepdaughter, Jennifer (Angelo) Cavuto of Coatesville. Nine grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, one great, great granddaughter, one sister, Faith (Walt) Powell, of Lewes, DE and four nephews; Walter Powell, Jr., Martin Lockhart, George Lockhart and Aaron Powell.
Predeceased by son-in-law Doug Profeto.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 S. 17th Ave., Coatesville, PA at 11:00 am.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of service.

A private interment of cremains will be in Indiantown Gap Memorial Cemetery.
