Dennis J. McGinnis, 56, of Coatesville, died on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the home of his daughter in Narvon. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Ralph and Dorothy Bryson McGinnis. An area resident all his life, he was a carpenter by trade.
He is survived by four children; Kimberly Campbell of Royersford, PA, Shannon Hodges of West Chester, Elizabeth (Hodges) Finkle of Hollywood, FL and Melissa McGinnis of Narvon, seven grandchildren and six brothers and five sisters. He was preceded in death by a daughter Lisa McGinnis.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg with a viewing from 10 to 11am. Donations may be made to help with funeral expenses directly to his daughter Melissa.

Dearest Melissa,
I am so sorry for your loss - My husband Buzzy and I just saw your dad at the OVI last Saturday after the 4th. Of course he was laughing and smiling and making us laugh and smile as well. He loved to tell stories about those wonderful grandchildren he loved so much. He will be dearly missed. I am so glad that when you and Caitlyn were young I got the chance to be introduced to your dad because he was such a nice man. He always made me laugh even if I was sad. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Heartbroken
My heart is beyond heavy with the weight of knowing this earthly realm has lost one of it's best. Your Dad made such a huge impression on my life. I can look back and chuckle thinking of his jokes and wildly free spirit. He helped me out of a bind several times. Towed my car home when it broke down, came to see me at the Polish Club in Coatesville when I felt like a pariah over there.
I remember seeing him in the convertible with his newsboy hat once and thinking "this man will never die"...
What most people didn't know about Dennis is that he was an artist. His work was truly inspiring.
He made everyone he met fall in love with his charm. I loved seeing how peoples minds would change as they got to know the man with the bandana and the beard. I believe he taught a lot of people a thing or two about judging a book by it's cover and first impressions; including me.
I will never forget you, Dennis. You were my friend and partner in crime. I pray the world holds impact long after your gone, because If I can no longer hear your voice, our comfort is in knowing you changes every life you touched for the better.
All my love and prayers, especially to Shannon, Beth, & Melissa. Your Dad was so proud of each of you. Never stopped talking about his grandbabies :) I feel beyond lucky to have known him. Thanks for sharing.
