Herman H. Pratt, 95, of Wagontown, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at the Coatesville VAMC. He was the husband of Janet Pratt with whom he shared almost 70 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Thomas and Catherine Rissel Pratt. He graduated in 1936 from Coatesville H.S. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII in Europe with the 859th Chemical Co., 9th Air Force. He was employed by Lukens Steel Co. in the Physical Testing Laboratory, retiring in 1980. 


Herman was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years. He was also a Phillies, Eagles and Penn State fan.

Mr. Pratt was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd of Coatesville, the Howell Lodge #405, F. & A.M. of Honey Brook, the Reading Consistory, Lukens Veterans Guild, Parkesburg Area Senior Citizens and the Senior Circle of Brandywine Hospital. He was a life member of the Wagontown and Washington Fire Companies and the West Caln Sportsman Club. 

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children; David Pratt and wife Brenda of Gordonville, Gail, wife of Bill O'Donnell of Dover, PA, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one brother Carl Pratt of Coatesville. He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, five brothers and six sisters.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg followed by interment at the Upper Octorara Cemetery, Parkesburg. Viewing at the funeral home from 10 to 10:45am with a Masonic service at 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 S. 17th Ave. Coatesville, PA 19320.
