George M. Stanislow, 85, formerly of Aston, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Hickory House Nursing Home of Honey Brook.
Born on Sunday, February 22, 1925 in Edwardsville, Pa., he was the son of the late Anna Putera Stanislow and Michael Stanislow.
He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II, serving in the Pacific, sweeping for underwater mines.
He held a B.S. degree in Chemistry from King's College in Wilkes Barre, Pa. and was retired from Ametek of Marshalton, De., where he worked as a chemist.
George was an avid fly fisherman and Phillies fan. He enjoyed golf, travel and photography.
He is survived by his five children: Steven Stanislow, husband of Loretta, of Clayton, De., Larry Stanislow, husband of Gail, of Wilmington, Susan Calderaio, wife of Joseph, of Havertown, Pa., Karen Smalec, wife of Paul, of Aston, Pa. and Robert Stanislow of Linwood, Pa.; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Florence Karmilowicz, wife of Norm, of Parkesburg.
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 PM. The interment will be on Thursday, August 5th at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
