Don, you may have displayed an outward cantankerous attitude, however, your heart and actions indicated that you never met a stranger. You knew everyone and everyone knew you and they were always glad to see you. We enjoyed many conversations reminiscing about our time in the Army. I really enjoyed those conversations and will miss them and you. You always treated me with respect and was glad I married your daughter, Barbara. I too, am very glad I married her. I will miss our dinner's out and you giving the waitress a hard time. They always seemed to enjoy your ribbing. The waitress would always ask about you if you were not with us. Don't worry my friend, I'll continue the legacy.
You were loved by your family and well liked by all who new you.
Rest In Peace Sergeant Major. I salute you.

John Mattheu
Sergeant Major
United States Army (retired)

My thoughts and prayers are wtih you and your family during this difficult time. I will always remember the fun times Don and I had picking on each other. (I thought he was serious at first until I realized that was how he was!)

On behalf of the PA Squadron of the Sampson Veterans Association we want to send our condolances and we will miss Don at our meetings. They won't be the same without him, but I know he will be looking down to give me a hard time about something.
