Daniel L. Patterson, 59, of Paradise, went home to walk with his Lord on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. Gillespie Patterson, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage.

He was retired from Service Star where he had been employed as a Truck Driver for 14 years. He had been a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Georgetown Methodist and most recently the Calvary Church of Lancaster.

He enjoyed camping, sports, spending time with his family and singing in the choir at church.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children: Timothy A. Patterson, husband of Lori, of Reamstown and Victoria Lee Capoferri, wife of Brian, of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Cole, Taylor and Joey Capoferri and two siblings, Ronald Patterson of Columbia and Lisa Buckius of Millersville.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 10 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, Pa., followed by interment in the Upper Octorara Cemetery of Parkesburg. I remember Dan every Saturday Morning over at Garden Spot watching the kids bowl and talking with whoever would come his way, I am sure that this is a small token of what he did with his family, but it is certainly the part that I saw, I also saw parents just drop their kids off- - - that is something I never saw Dan and Barb do. It's been many years since I saw you last, I know that you will be upstairs and you will continue to watch your family. God Speed, Dan.

Dear Barb and Family,

I was so shocked and saddened to read about Dan's passing. I know he is finally at peace and released from worldly pain. I will always remember his wicked sense of humor and all the patience he had with his crazy therapists at Magee! Thank you so much for keeping in touch at Christmas all these years.

You are in my prayers.

Fondly,

Gail

Dear Barb and family:
We in the choir will miss Dan. I enjoyed reading his e-mails that he sent.
What came to mind when I heard of Dan's passing was the song he sang "I Can Only Imagine''. Now he is with the Lord and his 'Imagine' has become reality.
He was a blessing to many.

May God grant you peace and comfort through this time of grief and loss!

Barb and Family - I was stunned to hear about Danny, a favorite cousin. Thought about all our childhood memories which made me smile. Quiet, easier and more simple times. He set very high standards (for others) for living a difficult and painful life. Heaven has just acquired a very special "Angel", one with a wicked sense of humor and one who will continue to watch over his beloved family. May he enjoy his new-found freedom. Work (Christmas at Walmart) and the the weather (shoveling out from snow) will prevent us from being there physically, but we will be with everyone in our thoughts and prayers.

Oh Barbara, Barbara, I am soo glad you got to come to the Wives Club lunch, just the day before!! I am soo glad someone asked you how Dan was...so you could "give us a little forwarning"...or what a shock the call would have been, just a day latter! (well, it was still a shock!)
I am also thankful to have seen and talked with him a little, at the banquet!
I was tellin' Elvin and Kez your FUNNY story about Dan crashin' around the dentist's office. Oh, the stories you could tell!
And praise God, he doesn't "have to imagine, anymore"!
Prayin' for You & Yours, Glenda

Barb and family,
It is so very sad to hear of Dan's passing. He was certainly an inspiration to many. From his wonderful humor to his will to go on, he was a great mentor. I know he is walking now with God. He told me once that in his dreams he could walk and I never forgot that. And Barb, you are still the person I most admire.

I had once heard a man say that he once was angry that he had no shoes until he met a man who had no feet. Dan had no use of his legs and very very limited use of his upper body, but I never once heard him complain. As a matter of fact, I can never remember a time that he didn't have a smile on his face.....a praise on his lips......and a positive word of encouragement flowing from his heart.

Barb.....Dan has been a constant source of encouragement to me over the past 10 years. I will miss him and his emails immensely, but am still being encouraged in his faith....and rejoicing that Dan is truly now walking and dancing with his Lord and mine!

God bless you and your family during this difficult time.

Love,
Terry

We will always remember Dan coming up to the horseshoe pits. He did enjoy watching the games. He will be sorely missed. The only consulation is, he is in a far better place than we; no more suffering. He is home at last with his creator.

I'm so sorry to hear the news. I alsways remember my mom (Diane Frymyer) talking so fondly of Danny. It's been many, many, many years since I last saw Danny but I remember how he'd make me smile when I was a little girl at somebody's pool. Yes - it's been that long and I was in elementary school. Please take care!
