Joan L. Morefield

Joan L. Morefield, 72, of Gap, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Lancaster General Hospital. She was the widow of Bob Rae Morefield, who passed away in 1984, after sharing 29 years of marriage together.

Born on January 31, 1937, she was the daughter of the late William H. Fuller and Edna Mae McCarraher Fuller Leeds. An area resident all her life, she was employed by the Oberthur Card System of Exton, retiring at the age of 61. She belonged to the American Legion of Christiana, the V.F.W. #4480, the Coatesville Moose, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the West End Fire Co.. Joan enjoyed being on her computer.

She is survived by three children: Deborah Ammon, companion of James H. Stauffer, of Gap, Brenda M. Hogg of New Providence, and Vicky M. Morefield of Quarryville; seven grandchildren, Angela, Bob Jr., Joshua, Rachael Morefield, and Timothy, Tanya and Nicole Hogg; four great grandchildren; and brother, Donald Pirches of Parkesburg and her beloved dog Butch. Joan was preceded in death by a son, Robert R. Morefield in 2006 and siblings, George Pirches, Eleanor Freeland, Dorothy Scott and Bessie Peace.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Glen Run Cemetery of Atglen. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held at the Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
