Donald L. Canull, 80, of Gap, died on Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Tel-Hai Retirement Community of Honey Brook. He was the beloved husband of Alice Urban Canull with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Albion, Mich., he was the son of the late Francis W. and Florence Stonesifer Canull. Donald served in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He retired in 1994 from the Lukens Steel Co. as security director and prior to that he operated a grocery store in Rock Run and he also owned and operated a service station near Wagontown, PA.
Donald was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Parkesburg where he had served as a Deacon from 1998 to 2001. He was also a member and Past Master of the Keystone Masonic Lodge.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three children; Richard L. Canull and wife Loretta of Pleasant Valley, NY, Linda L. Neff of New Holland and Donald D. Canull and wife Sharon of Denver, PA, eight grandchildren; Matthew, Adrienne, Eric, Tommy, Evan, Jake, Brad and Leanna, two great grandchildren; Sawyer and Sonya, and eight siblings; Beverly Bentley, Fred Canull, Sandra Arnold, Francine Davidson, Cathy Mead, Ronnie Canull, Patty Christophel and Terry Poe all of Michigan. He was preceded in death by two brothers Roger and Dale Canull.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 am from the First United Presbyterian Church of Parkesburg, 511 Main Street, Parkesburg, PA 19365 with visitation at the church from 10 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church at the above address or the Tel-Hai Care Assurance Fund, P.O. Box 190 Honey Brook, Pa. 19344.
