Deborah Rolletta (Turner) Cooper
Deborah Rolletta (Turner) Cooper, 74, of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Reading Hospital.
She was born on Sunday, March 16, 1947, in Paulsboro, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Richard Emerson and Maude Grace Turner Sr.
She graduated from S. Horace Scott in 1965, worked a seamstress for many years, was the supervisor of a cleaning crew, worked and retired from Reynolds Metals Company in 1995, was a childcare provider for numerous families, home health care for mentally disabled adults and worked and retired from Goodwill Industries in 2018.
She first accepted Jesus as her savior and was baptized in 1983 at the Church of Christ at Ercildoun in Coatesville, PA. She was a member of Bright Side Baptist Church of Lancaster, PA.
Debbie had a passion for people from day one. You could always find her using her hands, heart, and ears to help someone in need. She was known for making things with her hands – clothes, curtains, professional boxer uniforms, blankets, dolls, party favors, or shower favors and tons and tons and tons of food. She was a self-taught cook with the best potato salad around. She was always found feeding the entire neighborhood in Brandywine Homes. Although she could not always make ends meet all the kids of the neighborhood could be found at Ms. Debbie’s (as she was passionately known) house at one time or another to enjoy a plate of food. She had a passion and the best green thumb for plants and gardening.
One thing that would melt her heart was to receive flowers; she really loved roses; especially yellow and carnations in any color. She loved interior decorating and one of her favorite things was changing out her curtains and decorations for every season, big or small; but her hands-down favorite holiday was Christmas, and she was the most meticulous tree trimming decorator. She could be found texting, instant messaging, sending GIFS, or calling people to let them know that she cared for them. She would listen for hours to everyone that would talk to her. She accepted everyone and loved everyone for who they were. If she loved you, trust you knew it because she loved hard and she would be sure that you were aware of her love in some way and you would be caught up in Deb’s web. Dancing was one of her favorite past times and she was sure to teach the kids how to dance although she had two left feet. She loved movies, as early back as the time she would sneak her kids into the drive-in movies as a single mom up until her recent battle with her health by having marathon movie nights with Jonathan until the wee hours of the morning. Ironing was one of her obsessions, she would iron everything that could be ironed while watching movies, cooking a meal, and holding a conversation. Traveling was one of her favorite pastimes. She loved short trips, long trips, any type of trip. She and her trip partner, Jonathan, could be found traveling to all types of places near or far and especially loved the Conestoga Tour bus trips. The most precious gift that she gave was raising all five of her children to be independent, knowing how to cook, clean, do laundry, sew, do hair and nails, and work hard for themselves and family.
Deborah will be lovingly remembered by her five children; son, Michael Charles Turner of Lancaster, PA; son and daughter-in-law, William and Keonna Cooper of Honey Brook, PA; daughter Bridget Nanette Cooper of Atlanta, GA; daughter and son-in-law; Susin and Maurice Thomas of Lancaster, PA; son Jonathan Aubrey Proctor, Honey Brook, PA.
