George R. "Richie" Hopton, 65, of Parkesburg, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Thelma J. Hopton Marshman. His grandparents, Anna and George Hopton also helped to raise him.
Richie was a certified master plumber; however, he will best be remembered for his warm outgoing spirit and sense of humor. He enjoyed football and Nascar.
He is survived by one daughter; Rochelle Lynn Newman of Lancaster, three grandsons; Gary, Anthony and Christopher, two sisters; Linda A., wife of Owen Jones of Pomeroy, Tina M., wife of David Park of Cochranville, one brother Ashton L. Marshman, III and wife Laurie of Honey Brook, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Tamara M. Warren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February, 1, 2010 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, Pa 19365 followed by interment at the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery. Viewing from 10 - 11am.

To Ash and Tina, I'm really sorry to hear about Richie. We had some fun times. He was one of the funniest people I have ever known. He was always laughing and joking. He was truly special. I know he will be missed. May God be with him and you. Your friend always, J.R.
