Ernest “Ed” Mize, 80, of Cochranville passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Deborah Mize with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. Born in Smyth County, Virginia he was the son of the late Milton Mize and Lessie Townsend.
Ed was a graduate of Scott Senior High School and went on to attend The Municipal Police Academy at Delaware County Community College.
Ed had served in law enforcement since 1969, working full time for Kennett Square Police Department for 20 of those years. He was a former member of The Fraternal Order of Police. He was an avid gun collector, enjoyed fishing, and had an affection for Springer Spaniels.
He is survived in addition to his wife by two children: Brian Mize of Cochranville and Kimberly Mize of Atglen; six siblings, Wanda Mize and husband Robert (Funderwhite) of Downingtown, Joyce Plank of Coatesville, Bonnie Moran and husband Robert of North East, Maryland, Susan Wilson and husband Burnett of Coatesville, Milton Mize Jr and wife Susan of Downingtown, and Gina Simmons Johnson and husband Larry of Elverson; five grandchildren Heather, Michael, Skylar, Damien, and Gavin; 3 great Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Toni Lynn Mize Klems and sister Joann Gregg.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 8, 2018 at 11 AM from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St, Parkesburg, PA, 19365. A viewing will take place from 10 AM until the start of the service. Interment will take place at Cochranville United Methodist Cemetery directly following the service.
