Harvey L.  Phillips, Jr. 85, of Coatesville, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at the Pocopson Home. He was the husband of the late Lorraine G. Phillips who died in 2011, whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Westwood, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey L. Sawyer and Olive Mann Phillips. 

An area resident all his life, he was employed by the former Lukens Steel Co. as a crane operator and later he was employed by PennDot as a truck driver. Harvey proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by three children: Steven M. Phillips and wife Claudia of Orwigsburg, PA, Stephanie Sollinger of Honey Brook and Lynda, wife of Thomas Staub of Georgia, and caregivers Bonnie Phillips and David Varner of Coatesville, six grandsons, one great-granddaughter and one brother Charles G. Phillips. He was preceded in death by five sisters: Beverly Fox, Patricia Pavelik, Romaine Beems, June DiDavide and Margaret Eshelman.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 3:00 PM from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at the Glen Run Cemetery, Atglen, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.

Pop pop, I’ll miss you. Thank you for showing me that hard work pays off. Thank you for teaching me how to take decent pictures. Your many lessons are ingrained  in my mind and I’ll carry them with me forever. Sorry I was unable to say a final goodbye in person. I’m proud of the Phillips name and this started with you.
