James L. Good, 90, of Downingtown died on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Pocopson Home of West Chester. He was the husband of Reita G. Good with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Noble H. and Mabel Patchel Good.
He graduated from West Chester High School in 1941 and was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corp.
He was a driver / salesman for Eachus and Rosenberger's Dairies for 36 years.
He was a charter member of the Exton Community Baptist Church and also a past treasurer, deacon, trustee and Sunday School secretary. He was active in the Food Bank which helped to feed hungry people in the Exton/Lionville area. He was active in the Chester County Boy Scouts of America for over 65 years and received a lifetime membership. Some of the awards he received from the Boy Scouts are as follows: Silver Beaver, Merit Award, Wood Badge, Order of the Arrow Vigil Member, Scouter's Key, Good Shepherd and Masonic Scouting Award. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge for 61 years. He was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sandra L. Good, a son James R. Good and his wife Beverly and two grandsons, Brian and Scott Good, all of Downingtown. He was preceded in death by twin sisters Marion and Pearl, brother Robert and sister Mildred.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 11 AM at the Grove United Methodist Church, 490 W Boot Rd., West Chester, PA 19380 followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. The viewing will be held from 10 until 11 AM at the Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts at Grove UM Church or to the Pocopson Home.
