Ira W. "Bud" Thompson, 90, of Christiana, formerly of Washington D.C., died on Wednesday,  August 28, 2013 at Harrison Senior Living in Christiana. He was the husband of the late Lettie Richardson Thompson who died in 2008 after sharing 55 years of marriage. Born in Bart Township, Lancaster Co., he was the son of the late Edgar and Ethel Harrison Thompson.
 
A graduate of Drexell University, Bud was employed by the Government as an engineer for the U.S. Army and the Environmental Protective Services. 
Ira and his wife were avid travelers around the world. He enjoyed being with his family.
 
He is survived by three siblings; Robert Thompson and wife Shirley Ann of Chester Springs, Melvin L. Thompson and wife Shirley Mae of Atglen and Florence Richardson of Coatesville and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters and seven brothers.
 
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg followed by interment at the Mt. Zion AME Cemetery, Atglen. Viewing at the funeral home from 9 to 11am.

I want to extend my love and condolence to Melvin(my dad) Uncle Bob and Aunt Sue. I know its been rough over the last year loosing so many family members, trust me ive been right there with you. I love you guys more than these words can say. Uncle Bud was a giving and caring man. I wish I had more than the last 8 yrs to know him more. I will miss his smile, his humor and also his wisdom. I was proud to call him uncle and he will be sadly missed. I will be here for you if u need anything. My love and tears. Lynnie.
