William "Skeet" Ben, 65, of Coatesville, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Brandywine Hospital. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late John Ben, Sr. and Nettie Harris Ben. Skeet was a lifelong resident of Coatesville and a 1964 graduate of the former Scott High School. He was employed, throughout his life, by Lukens Steel Co., the former Davey Paper Co. and most recently by Pepperidge Farms, retiring in 2009. In school, he excelled in track and field and baseball and he was an avid Washington Redskins fan. He formerly attended the Union Baptist Church.
He is survived by three siblings; Charlotte Bradley of Coatesville, Antoinette, wife of Leroy Wright of Cordova, S.C., and James T. Ben and wife Cheryl of Downingtown, beloved companion, Melody L. Kimes of Coatesville, adopted granddaughter Shay Tooles and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother the Rev. John Ben, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 10:00 am from the Trinity United Bible Church, 50 S. 8th Avenue, Coatesville, PA 19320 followed by interment at the New Evergreen Cemetery of Hayti. Viewing at the Church from 8:00 am to 9:45 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1615 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382.
