William P. Root, 76, of West Chester, passed away on Sunday, September 7th, 2014 at the Pembrooke Health & Rehab Center of West Chester. He was the widower of the late Helen Bergery Root who died in 2005. Born in Valley Township, he was the son of the late William F. and Kathryn Fox Root.
Bill was an area resident all his life. He proudly served in the US Army. He was employed by the Lukens Steel Co. in Coatesville and retired from Foote Mineral in Exton.
He is survived by one son Vincent J. Root of West Chester and one brother Havard Root of Michigan.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 2pm from the Wilde Funeral home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with visitation from 1 to 2pm.

Joe and I look back on the
Joe and I look back on the times that your father spent at our house, whether it was for an engagement party, or simply coming to pick you up after a 4th of July party, and we remember Bill with fondness. He was always so polite and cordial toward us, and treated both of our sons like they were his own. I think he was that way with all of your friends, Vince. He was a sweet and kind man. Our thoughts are with you, and may your fond memories help to get you through this most difficult time.
