William J. Saalbach Sr., 77, of Gap, passed away at Harrison Senior Living of Christiana on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Janet Wolfe Saalbach with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Philip and Anna (Broomell) Saalbach.
An area resident all his life Bill was employed as a steelworker from Lukens for over 33 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Parkesburg.
William is known as Bill to all his friends and family. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and a very large family. He loved gambling at Atlantic City, going to polo games, traveling, and watching his Eagles, and spending time outside. Bill was very outgoing and enjoyed all his life long friendships.
In addition to his wife William is survived by three children; Joy Huyard of Christiana, Jill (Eric) Campbell of Gap, William J. (Stacy) Saalbach Jr of Paradise, Eight grandchildren: Michael (Mariellen) Huyard, Shannon Huyard, Shane Huyard, Justin (Jen) Campbell, Cory (Danielle) Campbell, Chad (Alicia) Saalbach, Kelly Saalbach, and Alexis Saalbach. Eleven great-grandchildren: Noah Huyard, Liam Huyard, Caiden Huyard, Logan Rose, Charlotte Campbell, Jane Campbell, Ellie Campbell, Colton Saalbach, Carter Saalbach, Cohen Saalbach, and Connor Saalbach and two siblings, Catherine Miller of Oregon and Sarah Pelzer of Downingtown. He was preceded in death by siblings Guy Slider and Pat Broomell.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Parkesburg, PA at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Interment at Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Lewy Body Dementia Assoc. , 912 Killian Hill Rd. SW, Suite 205, Lilburg, GA 30047.
Also a special thank you to all the nurses and aides at Harrison House who took care of Bill.
