Terrence James "Terry" Alexander, 73, of East Fallowfield, passed away on Friday, February 4th, 2022 at his home.  He was the beloved husband of Debra Barr-Alexander, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage.

Born in Coatesville, Terry was the son of the late Phyllis (Nethery) Alexander.  After graduating high school, Terry joined the US Army in 1965.  He went on to serve in the NATO Force in Germany and in Vietnam.  Terry was discharged having obtained the rank of Sgt. and Tank Commander.  He was awarded two Purple Heart medals.

Upon his discharge, he worked at Millprint Co. in Downingtown for 14 years.  He graduated from Goldey-Beacom College in 1977 with a degree in Business Administration after having made both the Dean's List and President's List.

In 1981, Terry joined the Coatesville Police Dept. where he served for 23 years, serving as Chief of Police from 1996 until 1997.  In 1988, he was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant.  He then worked at the Veteran's Administration Police Dept for 17 years, earning the rank of Captain and Lieutenant.  Terry was a patriot who loved serving the United States and its people.

Terry was a freemason and was a member of Brandywine Goddard Lodge #383 of Coatesville, and a 32nd degree in Reading Lodge of Perfection and the Scottish Rite.

He enjoyed watching the news, riding his Harley Wide Glide, keeping his yard and pool pristine, eating scallops and teriyaki noodles, and drinking WAWA coffee.  He enjoyed eating a weekly breakfast with his granddaughter, Julianna, who he affectionally called, "Baby Girl."

Terry is survived, in addition to his wife, by his children, Tina Thomas, Timothy Alexander, and Chris Alexander; stepson, Joseph Zazo and stepdaughter, Jennifer Kofroth, and husband John; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Bonnie Stringer, Richard Alexander and Dennis Alexander, husband of Mary.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 11th, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment at Hopewell Methodist Cemetery in Downingtown.  The viewing will be held from 1 PM to 2:15 PM, with a Masonic Service beginning at 2:15 PM.

Condolences

Dear Debbie, what a truly wonderful tribute to Terry.  Remember all the good times the two of you shared.  I will remember all the trouble we got into as kids, oh the stories I could tell.    We all had a hard upbringing but we all succeeded in our lives.  Thinking of all of you at this difficult time.

Elaine and I were very surprised to hear of Terry's passing. I always enjoyed talking with Terry as a friend and neighbor and as I sit here groping for words to say I'm wishing I had gotten to know him better during the years that we were neighbors. I know Debbie, that God will give you the strength you need to get you through the coming days. Don't dwell on the loss though I know it is great, instead dwell on the good and happy times you shared together.

Debby So very sorry for the loss of your loving husband Terry. As you know Terry and I were friends for 60 years and we have had our fun and did crazy things but he was always a honest gentleman with respect to everyone. He also was a changed man when he found you to fulfill his life. He loved you and your children like his own. He was so proud of his granddaughter Julze. Prayers to you and your family and Terry will be watching over you all and wanting you to enjoy your life.  Bill Sharp

Everyday I miss you more and more. Everyone knows you were loved so deeply by those who were actually around you throughout your tough times. Things might’ve gotten hard but Mom-Mom never stopped caring and loving you to your fullest. I may be only 16 but my grandfather has just passed and I feel that it is my right to speak on the untrue things being said. My Mom-Mom never once stopped caring for him, medically, mentally, and physically. My Pop was never neglected in any way, shape, or form. The people speaking these untrue things haven’t been in their life for years, never even called when times were bad for him. All I’m asking is to please send positive messages to my grandmother at this time, and that if you were not around at all to see how things were ran here, do not speak negatively about it. Thank you and Pop, may you rest in peace. I love you forever.

Love, Pop’s Baby Girl.

Dear Deb,

Terri and I always admired and respected Terry as our neighbor and friend. The loss of your lifelong companion must be great. We are glad to have gotten to know Terry a little over the years and enjoyed watching him drive by the house on his purple Harley! We pray that the God of all grace will comfort your hearts, helping you to reflect upon the many years, challenges and joys you shared with Terry. His quiet confidence and kind heart will surely be missed.

Fondly,

Tim and Terri Zietz
