Steven R. Flinn, 62, of Gap, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. He was the beloved companion of Beth A. Howard with whom he shared 20 years of being together. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of Robert Flinn, Sr. of Coatesville and the late Ruthann Dunn Flinn Owens and step son to Betty Lou Flinn.
Steve was an area resident all his life and a 1974 graduate of the Coatesville Area High School. He was employed by the former Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville but, for over 30 years, he owned and operated Uptown Automotive serving the Coatesville area as an auto mechanic.
Steve had a lifelong love for cars. He built model cars as a child and began working on cars as a teenager. He was a trusted mechanic and many people said he could fix anything. He was most comfortable laying on the ground underneath a car. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed going to races and hanging with the drivers and crew in the pits.
He was a devoted Poppy to the grandchildren. He restored old toys for them to play with.
His pride and joy was his long beard, which he never shaved or cut since 1975.
He is survived, in addition to his companion, father and stepmother, by three siblings; Susan Flinn of Parkesburg, Scott Flinn and wife Linda of Honey Brook, and Robert Flinn, Jr. and wife Robin of Pomeroy, stepdaughter Heather Miller of Gap, four step grandchildren, one nephew Austin Flinn and one niece Alexa Flinn.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg. Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com

"Uptown"
"Uptown" you will certainly be missed.❤️ Ms. Beth, Mr. Flinn, & family have my heartfelt condolences. I valued Uptown so much as a mechanic that when I lost his number I took a trip to Mr. Flinn's to get a hold of him & he called me right back! Wow....still seems unreal!
