Sara Elizabeth Freeman, 89, of Unionville, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Heatherwood Retirement Community where she had resided for three years. She was the wife of Earl Freeman with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Lyndell, PA she was the daughter of the late Wayne P. and Elsie Cook Gray.
Sara graduated from Downingtown High School class of 1942. She worked for Lukens Steel Company for five years and later for the Unionville School District. Sara was known for her delicious pies.
She was an active member of the 1st Baptist Church of Kennett Square for over 50 years. She helped in nursery for 20 years. She loved to crochet and spend time with her family.
She is survived, in addition to her husband, by four children; Ronald of Romansville, Paul and wife Diana of Avondale, David and wife Cindy of Newark, DE and Joyce George of Morgantown, 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister Jean Pomaiba of Tunkhannock, PA and daughter-in-law Debbie Freeman. She was preceded in death by her son Dennis and son-in-law Thomas George.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11am from the 1st Baptist Church of Kennett Square, 415 W. State St., Kennett Square, PA 19348 followed by interment at the Unionville Cemetery. Viewing at the church from 10 to 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the 1st Baptist Church at the above address.
