Robert Joseph Wilson

Robert Joseph Wilson, 86, of Christiana, PA, was called home to Heaven suddenly on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Born in Cochranville, PA he was the son of the late H. Jeannette Taylor.

Bob lived in many places, but he eventually came back to where it all started for him, where life and people are simpler. After finishing school in 1955 at the former Cochranville High School, he proudly served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

He was a master craftsman; working with his hands was one of his joys, but not as much a joy as were his children to him. A self-taught banjo player, Barber Shop Quartet singer, excellent bowler, roller skater and professional storyteller, Bob read every John Grisham book ever published twice over and then shared his constantly rotating book collection with everyone.

He was so loved and called “Friend” by so many, especially in our local Amish community, who cherished their driver and were always at the ready to offer him a seat at their dinner tables.

He is survived by 4 children: Susan Prieto and husband David of Georgia, Debora McGaha and husband Robert of Townsend, DE, Ronald Wilson and wife Sandi of Wilmington, DE and Tracy Wilson of Charlotte, NC; 7 grandchildren: Wesley, Paul, Rachella, Daniel, Aaron, Emmalee and Otto; and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and an infant son, Christopher Robert Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at the Cochranville Methodist Cemetery in Cochranville, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to donate in his honor to the charity of your choosing. Bob was partial to donating for the benefit of animals, veterans, and of course, children.
