Michael J. Steczak Jr., 85, of Coatesville, PA, passed away on April 29, 2024, in West Chester, PA. He was preceded in death by his common-law wife, Janice N. Barber in 2009. He was born on September 26, 1938, in Coatesville, PA, to the late Michael J. Sr. and Mary Adams Steczak.
Michael graduated from Scott High School in 1956 and then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a military police officer. He worked at Food Fair, Pantry Pride, Fiories, and other area grocery stores, working the produce department and stocking shelves. His passions in life were hunting, fishing, and his family.
He is survived by his son, Michael J. (Joann) Steczak III, step-daughters, Robin Barber, Debra (Joe) Heaps, Bobbie (Pete) Fowler, and Ruthann White. He was once stepfather to Charlene (Steve) Messner and Chuck (Sharon) McMinn. He is also survived by a brother, John Steczak, a sister, Margie Rogers, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Ruthann Steczak.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, PA, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Veterans charity.
