Marie E. Burton

Marie E. Burton, 87, formerly of Thorndale, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the Hickory House Nursing Home of Honey Brook.  She was the widow of the late William J. Burton, who passed away in 1974. 

Born in Honey Brook, she was the daughter of the late Frank R. and Susan Supplee Gibson.  An area resident of both Coatesville and Thorndale, she had been employed as a Nurses Aid at the St. John's Villa of Downingtown, retiring in 1987.  She was a member of the A.A.R.P. of Coatesville and the Olivet United Methodist Church of Coatesville. 

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Mann of Parkesburg and Anna Werner of Intercourse, her niece, Lois Summers of Coatesville, as well as other nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by Shirley Zaleski, who she loved as a sister.  Marie was preceded in death by brothers, Amos, John and Frank Gibson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Forks of the Brandywine Cemetery of Glenmoore.  Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service.
