Hower S. "Baba" Smith, Jr.

Hower S. "Baba" Smith, Jr., 78, of Westwood, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Brandywine Hospital.  He was the husband of Dale E. Thompson Smith with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Born in Westwood, he was the son of the late Hower S. Smith, Sr. and Florence Rebecca Townsley.

 
Hower served in the Army during the Korean War.  He was employed by Lukens Steel where he worked in the Blacksmith Shop for 42 years.  He was a member of the Goddard Masonic Lodge #383, Coatesville Moose, Parkesburg VFW and the Westwood Fire Company.
 
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by four children; Hower S. Smith III  and wife Bernie of Westwood, April L., wife of Ken Krajewski of Richmond, VA,Nathan D. Smith and wife Karen of Cochranville and Douglas J. Smith and wife Angel of Westwood; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother Nathan.
 
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg followed by interment at the Upper Octorara Cemetery. Viewing from 10 to 10:45am with Masonic services at 10:45am. 
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Coatesville Moose Lodge, 1200 Airport Rd. Coatesville, PA 19320.
